Thankful!

FullSizeRenderSo my book launched this week!  It has been great fun to share the story!  This picture is from my office in Casco where I stacked books for shipment to all the people who helped make the project possible!  All the great characters in my book from Pine Ridge received copies.  I am thankful to everyone who participated in the project!  Wopila Tanka!

The book is available on Amazon and in bookstores across Maine!  The book is also available at the Singing Horse Trading Post on the reservation.  All copies ordered on our website (www.kevindhancock.com) will be autographed!

The Lakota have a saying, “Mitakuye Oyasin”, which means “we are all related”.  This book is about seeing the planet for the single tribe it really is.  Enjoy!  Help spread the word!

  1. Hi Kevin,

Great to talk to be able to talk you at Casco Days this summer.
    (The bearded one.)
    Just started reading your book!
Very insightful and honest and heart felt.

After three tours in Southeast Asia, I also wondered what my purpose was on being sent over there.
People who lived there in South East Asia were on a subsistence level and just trying exist much as the American Native peoples here were, after being bull dozed by a high tech society, who would walk away someday, after molding the people, to their likings and securing the commercial interest purposes of their corporations.

I am so glad that you and your family have became the stewards of the land around here. There couldn’t have been anyone around here more suited to this protection of the real world that we live in, than you!
Every trip I take into the forests, or lakes and rivers around here, I utter a prayer of Thanks!, to you and the greater good you and your family represent and protect.

It’s an honor to be your neighbor and live in this great part of the world and enjoy what you have preserved for us all.

  3. My niece, Shirley Thunder Horse, had the opportunity to meet you and get a signed copy of your book there in Maine. She was super excited and called me to inform me of your book. Being Lakota, I am ecstatic with anticipation to receive and read your book. Thanks for honoring our Lakota culture through your eyes and your book. We are from the Pine Ridge Agency in South Dakota. I venture home every year for spiritual quests and family gatherings. Although, I reside in Texas, Wanblee, South Dakota will always be home. Mitakuye Oyasin!!
